Beware of extremism in all of its forms whether it be labeled alt-right or anything else. “Not that I condone fascism; or any ism for that matter. Isms, in my opinion, are not good. A person should not believe in an ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, ” I don’t believe in ‘Beatles’, I just believe in me. Good point there. After all, he was the Walrus. I could be the Walrus, I’d still have to bum rides off people.” – Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing” – Edmund Burke. Photo taken in the days before Twitter at a Vietnam anti-war protest (June 30, 1969).
While driving around this past Saturday morning doing my weekend chores, I spied the shopping cart of a homeless person waiting for its owner’s return. Hidden in plain sight. We see them or rather we look past them preferring not to notice.
Yesterday, the launch of a new texting feature designed to inform our users of important breaking news and feature photos from our collection was successful. Within just a few minutes the photo “Blue Lives Matter“, taken of some members of the Memphis, Tennessee (c.1954) police department on the firing range was delivered to all of our users either by text or email depending on their preference. This launch was directed only to those users who have subscribed to our newsletter and had been announced in this blog, within our newsletter and on our Facebook page. We would suggest that for those who want to continue to receive these notifications to please provide us with a phone number rather than an email address if needed for breaking news.
