I purchased a Nikon lens from a dealer in Tokyo, Japan at 7:30 P. M. DST in New York on June 2. This is a used lens that I didn’t know that I wanted or needed until I had done some research during this pandemic. Depending on your wants or needs there are some very good buys these days due to the current economic and unemployment situations. This was one of them.
This is the Nikon 35-70mm f/3.5 Ai-S professional zoom lens. It also has macro capabilities. Because of the superior optics and macro capabilities I decided to go with this version of the lens rather than the AI older version even though that one has a 72mm lens. Mine is 62mm. But the discussion here is not so much the lens as in the shipping. The seller used DHL Shipping. That’s Dalsey, Hillblom & Lynn for those of you in the room who speak English. The lens arrived yesterday, SUNDAY, at about 2 P. M. That is less than 5 days from the time the order was placed from almost half way around the world. Excellent! If you do buy camera equipment from a dealer in Japan I suggest that you locate one in Tokyo. Dealers from other cities in Japan seem to take longer, as the final shipping point seems to be Tokyo. Considering customs et. al. this was a great experience. By the way, the lens looks like it was never used, no scratches, fungus or haze. FYI: Tokyo Express.
